Spring Valley’s Volkening Heritage Farm is a living history museum where visitors can experience life on an authentic 1880s German farm, complete with horses, cows, pigs, chickens, and much more!
JOB SUMMARY: The Farm Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing daily and seasonal livestock operations and agricultural interpretation at the living history museum / farm. Museum structures include a farm house, harness shop, smokehouse, spring house, equipment shed/blacksmith shop, livestock barns (horses, cows, pigs, and more), and a chicken coop. Program areas include general visitation, school field trip programs, thematic family programs, special events, retail operations, summer camps, and rentals. Conducts ongoing research and development of the site's physical features, buildings, historic collections, and livestock program and supervises other staff and volunteers in the day-to-day care of livestock and general operation of the living history farm. Assists with collections management, including identification, research and repair/restoration of artifacts. Direct supervisory responsibility for Farm Operations Staff and Livestock Volunteers. Supervisory responsibility for Program Staff and Interpretive Volunteers is shared with Program Coordinator.
