    Today, as the largest suburban neighbor of Kansas City, Johnson County boasts a dozen different museums. Our co-hosts, Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm in Olathe and Shawnee Town 1929 in Shawnee, are institutions whose teams are passionate about history and continuing to grow to better serve our communities, as evidenced in the conference theme, “From the Ground Up: Cultivating Skills for Open Air Museums.”

    Whether you’re a brand new part of the museum community or a seasoned interpreter, we hope that this conference provides you with the opportunity to learn something new, to hone the skills you already have, and to share your knowledge with colleagues new and old.
