From the Ground Up: Cultivating Skills for Open-Air Museums

March 6-8, 2025 in Olathe & Shawnee, Kansas

Cohosted by Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm and Shawnee Town 1929

It never hurts to revisit fundamentals, especially as we refresh for a new season and prepare for the upcoming America250 initiative. Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm and Shawnee Town 1929 welcome museum professionals, volunteers, historians, and enthusiasts to the Kansas City metro in March of 2025 for the Midwest Open-Air Museums Coordinating Council's spring conference.

With two dozen possible sessions, one dozen workshops, and incredible field trip opportunities, you'll have the chance to explore everything from 19th-century textiles to 1920s automobiles, from Freeman Tilden's "Principles of Interpretation" to reworking school programs for COVID kids.
