From the Ground Up: Cultivating Skills for Open-Air Museums

It never hurts to revisit fundamentals, especially as we refresh for a new season and prepare for the upcoming America250 initiative. Join us in the Kansas City metro in March of 2025, where we’ll cover all the fundamentals, from classics like Freeman Tilden’s Interpreting our Heritage to creating a 3D virtual tour.

The Winter 2025 Conference Committee seeks presenters who can speak to the conference theme, especially those who can help attendees brush up on broad skills that museum practitioners should have on hand and the more select, unique skills and knowledge that can help our membership broaden their impact.

We particularly encourage hands-on or working conference sessions and on-site workshops at our available venues (see below). We also welcome undergraduate and graduate student-led sessions, as we welcome the newest members of our field to join us.

Session submissions are due by midnight CST on September 1, 2024.
