Maria Early (named such, because her husband refused to change his last name to Smith upon their marriage), currently manages the Historical Clothing department at Conner Prairie; a job that she got completely by accident and the grace of God.  She also volunteers regularly at Historic Ft Wayne in Indiana.  In a former life, she attended med school and then detective school at Ball State University.  Because God has a sense of humor, she ended up working in the library world for 15 years; before starting at Conner Prairie as a lowly seamstress in 2019.  Maria is happily married, with two adult daughters.  When not occupied with cloth or yarn, she enjoys: re-enacting 4 different time periods, roller coasters, camping, biking, boating, and reading.  One of her greatest pleasures is genealogy; the art of understanding how her grandmothers did things.  She is astonished, but pleased; that MOMCC finds her managerial and “history nerd” skills acceptable enough, to warrant her new position on the MOMCC board.  She will do her best to not disappoint everyone

Elected Term - Expires Nov. 2026
