    INTERPRETIVE AIDE

    HISTORICAL FARMER ROLE

    SLATE RUN LIVING HISTORICAL FARM

    What’s It About?

We are looking for a team member to help make the 1880s come to life!  A typical day on an Ohio farm in the 1880s is experienced by farm visitors as they observe each member of the farm family and find out about everyday life in that day and age.

    What Do We Need

The male farmer role involves the physical labor common to that period such as planting and harvesting using the tools, equipment, and animals of the era, carpentry, painting and upkeep of barn and outbuildings, use, care and repair of equipment and tools used in daily life, and the daily care of livestock. All of this is performed while leading school groups and providing hands-on demonstrations for the public and wearing 1880s style clothing.

    Who Are We Seeking?

Someone with energy, passion, and a love of all things history!  Someone who has a degree in education, history, agriculture or a related field would be ideal and experience in living history interpretation would be even better.  Customer service skills are a must.  As stated above, this is a physically intense job where the duties are performed outdoors in all weather conditions.

    What Does it Take?

A valid driver’s license. Passing a complete background check including fingerprinting. Being able to work a variety of daytime hours including weekends and holidays to meet the visitation of the public.  Getting certified in CPR/First Aid/AED after hire.
